Majors

The CED offers ten majors based on a 120-credit four-year program. The credits must fulfill University, humanities, college/core, and major course requirements. The CED programs were developed by tapping into SABIS® group expertise in education since 1886 and by benefiting from the latest research in the education field. The CED programs cover topics common to all levels of education (college/core courses) followed by courses needed for individuals to become experts in a certain type of education. The University requirement courses provide students with a well-rounded general knowledge needed to succeed in today’s world. The core courses provide must-have knowledge and tools to excel as a teacher irrespective of the level of teaching the teachers will be involved in (childhood education, primary education, or secondary education). The major courses allow would-be educators to become experts in their domain of teaching. Furthermore, the humanities course requirements allow students to nurture human skills for working/leading in a team environment and understanding the social and ethical ramifications of their education practices and the impact of education on the community at large. Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in one of ten majors offered by CED1 , namely: Early Childhood Education, Primary English, Primary Math and Science, Primary Math and IT, Secondary English, Secondary IT, Secondary Math, Secondary Physics, Secondary Chemistry, or Secondary Biology.

Students enrolled at CED must complete the following university, humanities/social science, and core required courses:
