MIS 340 : Business Data Communication and Networks

Prerequisites: MIS 301

Data communication is the transfer of information between computerized devices. Information Technology managers need to have an in-depth understanding of a range of issues relating to data comm nication and distributed processing. This course is designed to introduce the important field of data communication. It focuses on currently observed industry trends, including the digital convergence of voice, enterprise wide connectivity, distributed computing environments, and the massive demand for Internet-based open systems. Students learn how to evaluate, select, and implement different communication options within an organization.
