STA 201 : Business Statistics
Prerequisites: None
This course exposes students to the scope and application of statistical analysis. Topics include basic statistical techniques, descriptive measures, elementary probability, sampling, estimation and hypothesis testing, linear regression, correlation, multiple regression, and analysis of variance. In the laboratory component, which is part of the course, students will learn to use Microsoft Excel and a particular statistical add-in package to perform analyses of data such as SPSS. The emphasis is on business applications rather than rigorous mathematics. Students will also learn how to communicate clearly the results of statistical analysis and employ critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills to everyday tasks.
