CSC 331 : Computer Hardware and System Architecture

Prerequisites: CSC 201

The course addresses hardware issues that deal with the structure and internal operation of computers. The architecture and logic behind circuitry of the computers are stressed. In addition, this course covers general principles of hardware organization and hardware relation with low-level software systems. Topics covered include Boolean algebra, hardware building blocks, principles of processors, control units, and storage systems. Registers, buses, storage, and virtual storage are also explained. Further, the course explains the relation between computer architecture and system software.
