ENG 408 : Forms of Poetry: Greek tragedy to contemporary
Prerequisites: Senior Standing
This is a course for Primary English specialists. The course focuses on the varied nature of poetry as a genre. It begins by focusing on the roots of poetry in Greek tragedy and continues to look at poets through the ages, leading right up to the late 20th century poets and criticism of their work. Particular emphasis will be placed on comparing and contrasting the poetic forms of different periods. Specific topics, reading lists, and course outlines will be published annually.
