POL 201 : Introduction to Political Science
Prerequisites: ENG 102
This course introduces political studies as a science. It defines the boundaries of this field as well as the basic vocabulary and concepts used by political scientists. Topics include an introduction to the elements and principles of democratic and non-democratic governments of the world, political ideologies, conflict, and power. Students will learn how political concepts are related to the institutions of government. Students are exposed to a variety of topics including, but not necessarily limited to, concepts of power, authority, decision-making, the nation/state system, political ideology, and varieties of governmental and political systems.
