ENG 211 : Introduction to the Plays and Poetry of Shakespeare
Prerequisites: Passing ENG 102, passed with distinction. Failing to pass ENG 201 with distinction will force an automatic change of major to primary or early childhood education.
This is a course for Secondary English specialists. The course introduces students to Shakespeare’s work both as a poet and as a dramatist in the context of his relationship to the theatrical fashions, literary genres, and the social, historical, and cultural influences of his day. Course reading includes representative plays and sonnets. Specific topics, reading lists, and course outlines will be published annually.
