HTM 211 : Introduction to Travel and Tourism

Prerequisites: Junior Standing

This course introduces students to the nature, structure, and complexity of travel and tourism. It is designed to establish awareness of concepts and perspectives relevant to the understanding of travel and tourism industries and to give students a framework from which to analyze the various aspects of these industries. The course includes an overview of travel and tourism, the evolution of travel and tourism, and its volume growth at the global level. Students will learn the various sectors of the tourism distribution system. Topics also include the role of governments, the private sector, and the communities in creating tourism.
