MIS 475 : Knowledge Management
Prerequisites: Senior Standing or permission of dept. chair
The course introduces the concepts and practice of knowledge. It shows how to define and differentiate between knowledge, data, and information and between knowledge management and information management. The course introduces all potential means to promote the importance and use of knowledge. Topics include intranets, groupware, weblogs, instant messaging, content management systems, and E-mail in both individual and organizational contexts. The course also covers knowledge creation, codification, transfer, capturing knowledge technologies, and ethical issues and problems inherent in knowledge management.
