Graduation

A. Graduation Requirements

Degrees are awarded three times a year: at the end of the Fall semester (February 12), at the end of the Spring semester (June 18), and at the end of the Summer semester (August 13). However, there is one commencement ceremony every year, normally in the month of July. Students graduating in the summer semester following the date of commencement with less than or equal to 6 credits may participate in that ceremony.

Students expecting to graduate must apply for graduation at the Registrar’s Office by the deadlines specified by the office.

B. Requirements for the Bachelor’s Degrees

  • Students must complete all requirements of a degree within a maximum of six years from their admission to the program (time spent in remedial learning is not part of the six-year period).
  • All regular students entering freshman class must complete at least 120 credits. However, this number may be higher, depending on the requirements of the major concerned.
  • A student with a bachelor’s degree from SABIS® University or from another university may work for another bachelor’s degree provided s/he completes a minimum of 45 additional credits, out of which 50% must be from the core and major requirements. Moreover, a residency of at least three semesters is required.
  • A minimum of 45 credits in a major, along with any additional requirement set by the Division/Department, is required. This may apply to students transferring from other universities.
  • A CGPA of 2.30 in the major courses is required.
  • A CGPA of 2.00 must be achieved in the courses required for the Teaching Diploma. The Teaching Diploma is granted upon completion of at least 21 credits beyond a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree and upon the fulfillment of government requirements.
  • A CGPA of 2.00 is required in all courses taken at the university. Transfer students will be given credit for all transferable courses, but only the courses taken at SABIS® University will be counted in their GPA.
  • The last 30 credits should be completed at SABIS® University.
  • Students expecting to graduate are required to apply for clearance one semester prior to the graduation date according to the deadlines set by the Registrar’s Office.
  • Colleges may require further conditions for graduation. These conditions must be approved by the councils concerned.
  • Students who have completed all requirements for graduation and who have not acquired a cumulative GPA of 2.00 and/or an average of 2.00 in their major courses are allowed to enroll in up to 24 credit hours to be completed in no more than one calendar year. If students fail to graduate, they will be dismissed.
